Bringing together some of the East Coast's strongest indie musicians, Mosquito is the union of <a href="spotify:artist:5UqTO8smerMvxHYA5xsXb6">Sonic Youth</a>'s Steve Shelley, <a href="spotify:artist:3xx5PhUhJZ9ADhd7RlC00C">Jad Fair </a>of <a href="spotify:artist:1YPYaJyUobMi0eABhZo92N">Half Japanese</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:5yrn5xvbnSDlOJZ6rZe5pe">Tim Foljahn</a> from <a href="spotify:artist:334Qy1s3xPYdv0esSmWgfw">Two Dollar Guitar</a>. The result is a sound that veers unexpectedly from noise to country to blues to jangly garage music. Formed in 1993, they released their first albums that year: Oh No Not Another Mosquito My House Is Full of Them! on Psycho-Acoustic and Time Was on Smells Like Records. 1994's Cupid's Fist stayed more consistent, offering up Fair's unconventional lyrics over country-acoustic music that echoed the sound of <a href="spotify:artist:334Qy1s3xPYdv0esSmWgfw">Two Dollar Guitar</a>. ~ Stacia Proefrock, Rovi
