Mothloop is the solo project by Martin James (<a href="spotify:artist:6A7NItTx8t9TP9GqSMETrK" data-name="Nostalgia Deathstar">Nostalgia Deathstar</a>) with production power from Timo Jalkanen (<a href="spotify:artist:5Zto7w9JAUVqqZyWlr5tja" data-name="Montage Collective">Montage Collective</a>) and featuring an international cast of musician including London's <a href="spotify:artist:0viircutcMR9tRckUez3Fj" data-name="Cult With No Name">Cult With No Name</a> and Melbourne's <a href="spotify:artist:0HPvg9z3opozZjX33dX9to" data-name="Pia Nesvara">Pia Nesvara</a>, among many more.
The Mothloop mirrorball has a darkened and decomposed underbelly that acknowledges both the high tension of the times and the fevered mental switches that reflect Martin’s ADHD. Mothloop’s grooves have an edginess that glimpses at imagined pasts. Post-Punk, Wave and Synthpop beats play havoc with the contours of electro and Future Pop; slap bass snakes round sub pulses and funky guitars mesh with all manner of flutes, horns and voices… it’s a simple case of fuck the darkness let’s dance.
