Spawned from a love of punk, metal and dirty rock 'n' roll, Motor City Murder were formed in Dewsbury at the beginning of 2020.
Although a global pandemic tried to hamper their initial progress, the band were soon working on original material that combined filthy riffs and catchy hooks with venomous but socially relevant lyrics. This very quickly resulted in a torrent of relentless, metal infused punk rock.
The band, comprised of Wes Johnson (guitar and vocals), Rome Pithers (guitar), Leam Taylor (bass and vocals) and Steve Hodge (drums), made their live debut in October 2021 and have gigged consistently since at multiple venues throughout Yorkshire. This has included both headline and support slots, as well as several festival appearances.
The band recorded their debut EP '187bpm' at Nave Studios in Leeds with producer Tom Orrell in early 2022. The recording which was released in May 2022 was described by Planet Mosh as having ‘Motorhead like bluster and Wildhearts melodies with balls’.
As well as planning to gig extensively during 2023, the band also expect to release further recorded material later in the year.
