Shaped by musical journeys, close friendships and a lot of experiments, Mount Winslow creates an attractive musical blend with influences from folk, indie, shoegaze and post rock.
A very important reason why Mount Winslow cannot be labelled as a copycat in the way too homogeneous indie folk mash is also the centrepiece of their compositions: the sometimes rough, sometimes intimate voice of singer and pianist Piet Julius who first started a solo project in early 2017, which later became Mount Winslow. However, the band’s sound plays an equally important role: Simon on bass, Henry on guitar and Raphael on drums know how to set the scene for the vocals without acting as instrumental necessities: reverb-soaked guitars, distinctive fills, wide soundscapes, sound details in every corner and an unconventional play with rhythm and dynamics show that the four know their craft. Every aspect of the composition, every instrument contributes to an organic work of art while still standing for itself. It is particularly this diversity why Mount Winslow achieves to fuse contrary directions.
