Mouton Noir
"Born a lamb, became a sheep, now mouton noir."
That's how Mouton Noir, or Stefan Schaap (Dutch for sheep), likes to describe himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too rough, his musical selections are his own therapy. The foundation of his selection starts with the funk disco music (The Temptations, Earth, Wind & Fire, or Michael Jackson), over some techhouse (Purple Disco Machine, Format:B) to some rougher music (Green Velvet, Ninetoes, Charlotte de Witte), all connected to his very own love for both, old school hip-hop and techno, Mouton Noir ended up with a specific type of electronic music. Today, this translates into sets where he chooses together all the pieces of his favourite music: shaking basslines, noisy claps and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced body-shaking techhouse beat.
An active member of his local community, Mouton Noir is know to the ups-and-downs of a small-country music scene. Though he loves playing at events, bars, nightclubs, or festivals, his love for music goes beyond spinning the decks. Today, Mouton Noir shows himself as a passionate producer based in his own studio which he shows through releases on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play or Soundcloud.
"For me, it is about bringing back the whole body dance and groove with the old disco tunes mixed into some nowadays techhouse. Move your feet, your hands, your hips and your head. Do not dance alone, be with someone, express yourself!"
