Kenny Tompkins, aka Mr. Husband, is a prolific songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who is also known for his work as New God. Working at his home studio in Frederick Maryland He crafts bright, psychedelic indie rock tinged with Soul, R&B, Jazz, and Classic Country. His records have been released on several noteworthy labels including Human Sounds, Forged Artifacts, Yellow K and PIAPTK. Many Mr. Husband releases showcase a shimmering, vintage guitar-pop sound that Stereogum said "sounds like Brian Wilson refracting through Animal Collective and boomeranging back to the 60's" while other releases venture heavily into lo-fi folk and country (see “Hey Sufjan, You Took Too Long So I Went Ahead and Made West Virginia). On 2021’s “Kinny Bouquet” he collaborated with long time friend and touring partner Michael Nau for a quirky, art-damaged set of tunes which he quickly followed with the self-deprecating dark-comedy of “A Portrait of the Artist as a Middle-Aged Dude”. In his live band Tompkins is joined by drummer Chris Morris (Cotton Jones), Guitarist Adam Laye (New God) and his brother Curt Tompkins (New God) on bass.
