b. Jane Wood, England. One of few working mothers on the dance scene, Wood has risen to become one of the UK’s premier female DJs and is a highly respected name on the techno circuit. She has twice been voted Top Female DJ by the UK’s DJ magazine. Her career began in 1990, while working for independent label Rhythm King Records. She was asked to warm up at the opening night of ‘FF’ at Turnmills, the UK club where Blu Peter established his credentials. She also had a residency at Heaven and began playing at clubs abroad, notably in Australia where she gained a devoted following. She has compiled a successful compilation for React Music, Mrs Wood Teaches Techno, and her single ‘Joanna’ was a club hit and entered the UK Top 40 in early 1997 when it was released for a second time. Her debut album as an artist, Woodwork, was released on React in September 1998 and exhibited a range of styles. She continues a successful career behind the decks at clubs around the world.
