Mthokozisi Hlatshwako also known as Mthorsh kubo is a controversial and fearless Eswatini singer, songwriter, and musical visionary known for pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo. With a sound that blends the infectious energy of Afrobeat with the raw, soulful character of Maskandi, Kubo has carved out a distinctive identity in the African music scene.
A true musical genius, Mthorsh Kubo has collaborated with acclaimed artists and producers including Frank Mabeat, Springle, Pushkin, De Rose, Happy Jazzman, and Lokzin Keys. Each collaboration adds another layer to his evolving sound, while his solo work continues to showcase his versatility, originality, and unapologetic creativity.
At the heart of Kubo’s artistry is a deep connection to his roots. He draws much of his inspiration from his grandfather, a guitarist whose passion for music helped shape Kubo’s own relationship with sound from an early age. That influence can be felt in the way he approaches rhythm, melody, and storytelling.
From the streets and traditions of Eswatini to the modern African soundscape, Mthorsh Kubo is an artist who refuses to be put in a box. His music is bold, unpredictable, and deeply rooted in where he comes from—while always looking toward where African music is going next.
