Muax

Muax is a Belgian musician based in Cologne. His musical voice is open and unbounded – jazzy, experimental, sometimes pop-leaning or rocky, always led by intuition. As a trumpet player with a love for improvisation and vivid sonic imagery, he creates music that shifts between playful and profound.

Often, a piece begins with just a tone, a feeling, or a mental image. His musical journey began in the 1980s as a drummer and later moved through the offbeat web show Muax Enrico. Recent albums like Trouble (2023), The Dictator Is Coming (2024) and Missing You (2025) explore the expressive range of the trumpet between melody, noise, structure and freedom.

Live, he plays with the Cologne improv collective Anonyme Gesellschaft, appears as a guest trumpeter with the French duo Toi et Moi, and since 2025 also with <a href="spotify:artist:3XZ8irbX2ZJYz3KG7u6FnS" data-name="Aeonlicht">Aeonlicht</a>, a German indie pop/alternative band.
