From the age of 14 <a href="spotify:artist:1g5PorBgjWrL60NdotRE6Q" data-name="Mutya Buena">Mutya Buena</a> has been releasing music to iconic levels of commercial success.At 8, Buena met <a href="spotify:artist:6iJm4Wd7fNoHcoiVW3jb1U" data-name="Keisha Buchanan">Keisha Buchanan</a> & by the age of 13, the girls expressed an interest in forming a group & met with a manager who paired them up with <a href="spotify:artist:7edpqbQnGU6YySpab5ItAU" data-name="Siobhan Donaghy">Siobhan Donaghy</a>
<a href="spotify:artist:7rZNSLWMjTbwdLNskFbzFf" data-name="Sugababes">Sugababes</a> released their first album;‘One Touch’,in 2000 & lead single‘Overload’ reached the Top 10 in the UK Charts. Line-up changes ensued and the second album ‘Angels With Dirty Faces’ was released to more success.The triple platinum album scored 4 hit UK singles;2 of which reached the top of the charts. ‘Freak Like Me’ & ‘Round Round’ are regularly hailed amongst the best British singles of all time.
Mutya left Sugababes after two further album releases & in 2005 gave birth to her daughter. Yet in 2006, Buena enjoyed more success after the single release ‘This Is Not Real Love’with the late <a href="spotify:artist:19ra5tSw0tWufvUp8GotLo" data-name="George Michael">George Michael</a>.
Mutya went on to add vocals to <a href="spotify:artist:67tgMwUfnmqzYsNAtnP6YJ" data-name="Groove Armada">Groove Armada</a>’s ‘Soundboy Rock’ album birthing another iconic single in ‘Song For Mutya (Out Of Control)’-a release also considered one of the defining singles of the past decade.In 2007, Mutya Buena released her debut solo album ‘Real Girl’ to adoration and praise. The single has been streamed more than 3 million times on Spotify & Mutya has maintained a hold on the UK pop scene.
In 2019 Mutya was voted 2nd in a poll girl of best girl band members, missing out only to Beyonce.
