Muzzlewhite was a Norwegian rock band in the early 2000s, in the era of "Norwegian depression" and "melancholic" Scandinavian bands like Madrugada, and alt country like St. Thomas. Labelled as a guitar based, low-key, alt country act, they drew influences from a wide range of music, including dark americana, indie rock, singer-songwriter and pop." "That's Why I Love You, Darling" and "Henry's Fuck-up" were radio hits in Norway, and the latter was later covered by Minor Majority, while Karen Jo Fields contributed on "My Hero" with a haunting vocal line that gained much attention. Minor Majority's Pål Angelskår also covered the slightly tongue-in-cheek modern broadside ballad "Local Karaoke Queen". Muzzlewhite consisted originally of Tore Aurstad (also in the punk band The Oxydants), Trond Brækhus, Finn Roar Halvorsrud and Håkon Strømsæther. The band never formally split up and calls itself "presently indisposed", still playing the very occasional gig every leap year.
The revamped Muzzlewhite of 2022 is for the present a studio project consisting of Tore Aurstad and Øivind Thune (St. Thomas Band), kindly allowed the use of the band name by the other members. However, the songs and arrangements are very much in the style of "old" Muzzlewhite. And the original line-up may well appear on a stage near you sooner or later, you never know.
