My Cosmic Girl - a band, a concept, who is she? You? With a contemporary take on the sounds of mid-century Folk Rock, My Cosmic Girl blends the finest elements of these decades, refining this style with a gorgeous, modern sheen.
Formed off the back of a university course in 2021, founding members Ella and Elvis had an undeniable creative chemistry that would create the foundations of what was to become My Cosmic Girl. Bonding over their love for early 'Laurel Canyon-esque' folk music, the band was conceived over a simple piano line. Fellow bandmates, Oliver, Jackson & Toby were recruited after being drawn into the duo's first single "Frenchie", which has become a crowd favourite at their gigs and a frequent spin on student radio in New Zealand.
Currently, the band is releasing music they’ve been working on over the last few years and capturing the dynamic energy of their live performances in a studio setting, with honest, simple lyricism and unforgettable hooks.
