MHIAM started out as a folky solo project back in 2012, when lead singer Mattis Malinen released the self produced EP 'Sketches' and hobo-toured Europe by train.
Later joined by Gustaf Simonsson and Felix Carlsten, the newly formed trio moved closer to indie rock territory and went on to win the title as “Sweden’s best unsigned band” on Sweden national radio station P3.
This was followed by a UK tour, performance on Sweden’s biggest TV benefit - “Musikhjälpen”, airtime in the US and featured on the soundtrack to “Made In Chelsea” .
In 2019, the band released the EP 'Benevolence', produced by grammy award winning producer Simon Nordberg, dito mixer Pelle Gunnerfeldt and the up and coming Dino Medanhodzic. The leading single ‘Diamonds’ - a feel-good indie pop anthem - featured on several notable official Spotify playlists such as Hits today, Swedish Hits, Life is good and New Music Friday.
The 2024 debut album, produced and mixed by Jakob Grundtman and mastered by Sören von Malmborg, was a step back to old roots with an aim to portray the songs as they were written, capturing the stripped ‘live’ sound of three friends playing together in a room.
The year 2025 is all about writing and recording a second album. But watch out for a couple of lil' treats along the way!
