Mya Angelique

Mya Angelique grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico which is not a small town but always felt like it was. Everyone is always connected and she always felt outside. It dawned on her that when you consume so much American media that was all about how your high school years would be the best of your life the real thing could never compare, or maybe it could, but hers did not! She quickly grasped with the idea that her teenage experience was fleeting and not to be missed when it was gone, however, she felt desperate in trying to immortalize it. That feeling is how “paper girls”, her first EP, came into fruition. It is comprised of songs, she mostly wrote at 15, that describe how absurd, isolating and sometimes absurdly isolating it is to be a teenager most times. A feeling all too familiar to many of us.
