Hailing from Manchester, Deadrose grew up inspired by the vibrant music scene that spawned timeless bands such as The Smiths, Oasis, and The Stone Roses. He aims to follow in their footsteps, armed with his signature brand of dark pop/R&B. Deadrose also takes great influence from American artists, even deriving his moniker from the cult classic Blackbear album. He aims to deliver to his listeners a hybrid of his British roots and the American culture he admires.
“I want people to know that it doesn’t matter who you are. If you want to sing then go for it. It doesn’t matter how good you are. As long as you enjoy it, it’s all that matters. If someone awkward like me can do it, so can you”, Deadrose says. His optimism for finding his place in the modern music industry and putting his story out into the world comes from his love for the digital age. “What I love about the music industry today is everything is digital, meaning it is easier now than ever to discover and share new music”.
Debuting his project with the single “M.I.A.”, Deadrose immediately demonstrates his vocal and lyrical prowess. “It’s almost like if Morrisey if he was laying down some smooth R&B”. It tells the tragically relatable story of spending all your effort on someone who ends up treating you like dirt and ghosts you in return. Deadrose is already in the studio working on more music to show us all what he is made of.
