Hong Kong’s Jimmy Howe delivers more of his esoteric twist on electronic music via his own NLS Records with ‘Echo Clone (Internet 2)’.
Jimmy Howe is the founder of NLS Records Research, a Hong Kong based imprint with a focus on experimental sounds in the field of ambient, techno and abstract electronic music, the imprint has showcased a variety of material from Jimmy under his Naked Nuras Loves Rave guise as well as some various artist packages featuring artists from across the globe such as Warp’s Plaid, Mira Calix, Autobam and more.
Howe also experiments with visual art, digital prints and videos to accompany the music. Here we see Jimmy returning with a new project under his own name, entitled ‘Echo Clone (Internet 2)’.
Up first on the package is ‘State 451’, a gritty Techno workout fuelled by menacing bass drones, choppy metallic synths, phased out synth hooks and robust, dynamic drums.
Title-track ‘Echo Clone’ follows and shift focus over to eerie elongated bass tones, stuttering synth modulations and experimental drum machine work.
‘Elemental’ then rounds out the release on a more experimental tip, bringing a menacing apocalyptic feel into play courtesy of tense, vacillating drones, creaky synth flutters and jittery percussive pops.
