Napoli Is Not Nepal is the producer and composer Hendryk Martin, Cologne/Germany. At the beginning was hardcore and punk rock, that moved to experimentation with samples and led to mixing electronic and analogue instruments. Martins debut „Revolv_er“ came out on Shitkatapult/Kompakt, the label of Apparat and T.Raumschmiere. After his second Album „Boredom is Always Couterrevolutionary“ (Onitor/Kompakt) he stepped back for a while.
The new focus of Martin became the piano. He rediscovered the instrument that had been around him from early childhood. The instrument itself with its pure sound offers infinite possibilities to express emotions. Every single piano has its own character that directly influences the music played on it. Closeness and intimacy are the focus.
Napoli is Not Nepal plays with juxtapositions. Martin uses sounds of his surroundings and puts them into a new context. Organic melodies swim in a flow of sounds. Together they form his music. He brings together seemingly different worlds to form a new unity. Martins conviction: unity as a statement for a better world.
