Natal1e is the embodiment of the nostalgia stirred when revisiting the song that made you fall in love with hip hop. The San Diego singer/emcee can dance between rap, neo-soul, hip hop, and alternative vibes, and her energy translates clearly regardless of genre. Nat’s music carries in it the weight of mourning, yet it simultaneously promises the hope of morning, offering listeners music to both weep and dream to. Natal1e is particularly gifted at connecting with fans on a very human level; she is able to use her pen and mic to put the heart worn on her proverbial sleeve on full display, which can be heard and felt on her recent releases: “Old Friend, Farewell,” “Here With You,” and “Can’t Let Go.”
Growing up, Natal1e felt out of place and music offered her an outlet, a community. Now she is able to find a home in her own music as well as provide a place for those who feel lost, those looking for their place in the world. The genesis of Nat’s lyricism was her pre-teen poetry, journaling, and listening to the music her older cousins introduced her to. Writing came naturally, but rapping gave Natal1e her voice, gave her confidence. She credits artists like Miss Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Alicia Keys, Tupac, Miguel, Mike Shinoda, Slug, Andre 3000, Justin Timberlake, Amy Winehouse, Tech 9ine, Biggie and more with inspiring her and challenging her to really find herself, and to tell her story in her own way.
