Born in London to Reggae singer and Actress Lorna Gayle aka Lorna Gee, Nathan’s first taste of music was the Lovers Rock and Dancehall vibes his mother was creating, but it was the late 80’s/early 90’s and music of Michael Jackson that created the biggest impression on him.
“My mum was the reason I fell in love with performing but it was MJ why I fell in love with music! I loved the sounds I was hearing from him, the harmonies everything – I was thinking this guy is the best in the world!”
As the 90’s exploded with transatlantic music, stars like R Kelly, Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, Ginuwine and Aaliyah was stoking the creative fire within Nathan and it wasn’t long before he took to rapping and creating music of his own.
Flourishing in music at Forest Hill Boys, London, Nathan taught himself to sing and honed his craft for song-writing.
The driving force to rebuild a fanbase saw Nathan rebrand as Starboy Nathan and hit the ground running with a new team and business model. Supporting the Tours of JLS, The Wanted and NDubz – Nathan cast his career net far and wide to pull in a tangible fanbase, his Twitter fanbase soaring from a mere 3K to 30K in a matter of weeks.
With his subconscious reprogrammed and a steely determination to go full circle, Nathan now wants his new material to be heard void of any expectations and preconceptions.
