Nawal is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from the Indian Ocean island nation of Comoros off the east coast of Africa. Her music is a fusion of traditional acoustic instruments and roots music with a modern worldly touch. Nawal made her full-length album debut in 2001 with Kweli on the Melodie label.
