Nearfield

Nearfield is an electronic collective from Portugal producing music with a warm melodic feel covering everything from slow down tempo to fast dance.
The project was formed in 2006 by Alex Name (aka Paulo Valente) and was one of the first to register with Sellaband.com the first worldwide crowdfunding music platform to be created.
Paulo Silva Pereira wrote in 2012, on his MBA ‘The role of crowdfunding in entrepreneurship’ the following:
“(…) The band Nearfield, from Portugal, was successful in raising $50 000 in Sellaband, from 742 “believers”, being the most visited artist on Sellaband with 235 639 profile views (actually 235 640 now). This band was unknown in Portugal and unsuccessful in launching its work on the market (winning the interest of a record label). With their crowdfunding experience, they were able to directly test the market for the appetite for their work, to incorporate their fan’s feedback into their music and produce tracks that gained immediate success as was their pre‐tested expectation. Their track “Dance of War” in a vocal dub version was one of the successful later releases. (…)”
