Originally from South Africa and previously based in Thailand, Blaze KC has lived most of his life far from the U.S. origins of emo and pop-punk. Based in Nashville since 2022, the guitarist, singer and songwriter behind NEET and Tidy brings his youthful spirit and DIY ethos to American soil where it’s being embraced by a new generation.
Since 2019, NEET and Tidy has been a way to let out the anger, sadness and spite that builds up in Blaze KC’s life, but also embraces moments of fun and joy. Inspired by mid-2000s punk legends along with seminal acts of the emo revival and the latest scene makers, NEET and Tidy delivers a passionate, high-energy mix of emo, punk, post-hardcore, alt-rock and shoegaze that aims to be a soundtrack for anyone who feels like they don’t quite belong.
With a band name that stands for “not employed, educated or in training,” NEET and Tidy also stands for the idea of making your own way in life, no matter what others say. Armed with the philosophy of “making the music scene that you want,” Blaze KC has helped build two studios in Thailand and now operates his own studio, Ricky Rodent.
The band has released two Eps and a covers single: 2020’s NEET and Tidy, 2022’s I Still Dress Like My Heroes (double sided single) and 2024’s Is This Progress? EP.
Having assembled a band of like-mined punk loving musicians in Nashville, NEET and Tidy are well on their way to writing, recording and releasing their 3rd EP during 2025.
