Nelson Patton is an instrumental duo of Dave Nelson and Marlon Patton. Together, they create immersive, genre-blurring music that draws from ambient minimalism, jazz improvisation, and orchestral composition.

Built around trombone, drums, and electronics, their sound moves fluidly between spacious, meditative textures and dense, cinematic climaxes - balancing structure with improvisation at every turn.

Since forming in 2013, the duo has released multiple records, including collaborations with composer <a href="spotify:artist:30cxN7AJCm3dR0yQ5Dl1S3" data-name="Paola Prestini">Paola Prestini</a> (Ancient City) and a long-standing creative partnership with <a href="spotify:artist:7dgLSJ4HaXx0dy5V2BMQe5" data-name="Lonnie Holley">Lonnie Holley</a>, with whom they have recorded and toured extensively. Their work appears on Holley’s critically acclaimed album MITH and has been featured in film, including a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Now entering a new chapter, Nelson Patton continues to expand its collaborative reach, with a new album arriving in July 2026 featuring a wide-ranging cast of contributors.
