'Nelson Person' was an idea I had when looking for a new identity. It was 1982. I had just moved back into the North Shore of Massachusetts from Canada and was playing mostly solo in local bars booking myself as Nelson Person. I was sick of myself so I decided to change my name, as if that would help. I had some new songs and headed into the studio with some good friends: Roger Kimball on Bass, Mark Miller on Electric Rhythm and Lead Guitars, myself on Acoustic and Electric Rhythm, Danny Paradis on drums and special guest, Brad Delp on BGV's . . That project ended up being the "Who Is Nelson Person" CD . . . After the sessions, Danny and I set out to put together a band to play the Boston Scene. Paul Gareri and Rick Davis were both friends of Danny from Danvers and they all had jammed together so we started rehearsing and got really tight as friends and as it turned out, got pretty tight as a band. Paul on Guitar and Rick on Bass, myself on Rhythm Guitar & Vocals and Danny on Drums. We were together for 3 or 4 years, playing the Boston Scene. Getting started, as we were laboring over a name for the group, we decided to call ourselves 'Nelson Person'. It wasn't just me anymore. We were and still are, frankly, legends in our own minds. No Joke! The "Graduated" record was our first foray in the studio and a couple years later we recorded "Joyride" a 4 song EP. We had a lot of fun . . The music speaks for itself . . . Turn it up!" - Vini
