Ness Nöst is a sharp-tongued, soulful storyteller raised on Joni Mitchell and jazz, forged in theatre, and tested on 250+ stages across the country. With a voice that hits like a memory and lyrics that cut like truth, Nöst doesn’t just write songs — she builds worlds.
Called a "Modern Day Working-Class Folk Hero" by RANGE Magazine and praised by Exclaim! for her “melancholy, biting, and sentimental songwriting,” Nöst blends alt-folk, jazz, and raw confessional pop into something entirely her own.
Her self-produced EP Working Hours (2023) was crowdfunded with $7,000 from fans and peers — a striking debut exploring life in the service industry and the emotional labor women carry. Follow-up EP Glimmers was written, produced, and mixed by Nöst alone in a cabin in the Ontario woods and has already been spun on CBC Radio.
Currently Toronto-based. Always somewhere between grit and grace.
