NET GALA

As one of the driving forces who spearhead the underground club scene of the city of Seoul, NET. GALA distort the conventional language of electronic music. Pulsating drum patterns and mercurial sonic elements amalgamate inside the South Korean producer’s body of work, raising questions about identity, queer culture, body politics, and many more.

As a member of the local LGBTQ collective Shade Seoul, NET GALA have honed their frenzied sounds through various events and collaborations. After releasing their audacious first EP [re:FLEX*ion] in 2019 via NBDKNW, NET GALA expanded his own vision of melodramatic emotion in SVBKVLT-released [신파 SHINPA], the second EP in 2021. The latter took inspiration from Shinpageuk (신파극), a form of theatre from 20th century Korea.

NET GALA’s idiosyncratic graft of underground dance music and blatantly warped pop not only shines in their recordings but also in various DJ mixes and shows, such as Apple Music Pride 2023 Mix and The Tiger Den party at SXSW 2023. Such accumulated efforts are chaotically yet gorgeously presented in their first full-length, [GALAPAGGOT], set to be released in 2024.
