New Place are a five-piece band hailing from Guernsey in the Channel Islands. An earlier incarnation of New Place spent a number of years performing as part of the local band circuit on the island, before taking a break to reorient their songwriting and focus. They reformed after the pandemic with a new sound combining elements of alt-rock and 60’s pop.
While performing with each other in various outfits over the past few years, the band have collectively taken inspiration from Dutch botanical illustrations, personal historofictions, Public Domain archives, ephemeral moments, and an eclectic mix of musical influences, to write a four-song thesis exploring loss, reflection, and closeness.
Collaborating both online while spread across the UK as well as back home either in the assembly hall of an old primary school in the summer or in a log cabin in the winter, the songs slowly grew from seedlings to shoots, and eventually bloomed into the quartet of compositions known as ‘Garden Songs’.
With their debut EP recorded and released, New Place are carrying the momentum forward with new songs already being written and plans to perform live again together for the first time in 3 years.
