New Yeller is a Gowanus, Brooklyn based rock band that sets quirky lyrics to catchy indie, folk-rock, and pop tunes. Our sound has been compared to Lake Street Dive, America, Randy Newman, and Squeeze. We released our first album, Pandora's Regrets, in 2018, and released several singles in 2020. Our songs have been streamed on every continent on planet Earth except Antarctica, and played on many radio stations, including Vermont Public Radio (Safe & Sound) and WEQX.
Lead vocalist and songwriter Launa Schweizer previously released "Forget About Gravity" with her band, Bliss Point. She also co-founded and directed the Amherst College Bluestockings.
Bass player Bill Lienhard previously accompanied award-winning blues singer Bette Smith (with Bette Stuy and the Brooklynites) at venues including BB King's on 42nd Street and the Bethlehem Musikfest. Bill also played bass for Love Handle, Bliss Point, Attractive Nuisance, and Bad Voltage, and directed the Amherst College DQ,
Tom Wacker (keys) as a lifelong piano player, has played most every genre-starting as a young student of classical to organizing a big band, then on to many rock and jazz bands and picking up the saxophone along the way. Tom has shared the stage with such luminaries as Scott Ohare,Dizzy Gillespie, and Mike Gutkowski.
Jon Freeman (guitar) and Buck McAllister (mandolin, guitar) are veterans of the downtown/Brooklyn rock scene, and Justin Credible (drums) is a jazz, gospel, and rock player.
