Ngalah was born and raised in Mombasa, Kenya. He first recorded music in 2005 - conscious rap with boombap-centered beats. He then stopped to embark on a career in academia and writing, earning his PhD in African History in 2021 in the United Kingdom.
Forever a music enthusiast and Hip-Hop aficionado, Ngalah commandered the making of The NAKALA Album while he was still writing his doctoral dissertation. The first song was CAMARADERIE, boombap rap with soulful samples, and a collaboration between him and MastaQuest, his cousin. Themes of collaboration, return making, and the power of lyricsm were peppered all over this song. It then became apparent an album was required.
The NAKALA Album marks Ngalah’s return to music.
The quest, to employ lyricsm and rapping as intellectual practice, led Ngalah to begin FANISI AFRICA, under which he produces his music, and which runs various programs for the benefit of artists.
