Ni! (Leon Sukhodolskii) is a Lisbon-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and live performer crafting emotionally charged soundscapes that blur the lines between ambient, avant-garde jazz, and cinematic minimalism. His primary instrument, the bass clarinet, is processed live with electronics and loopers to create richly textured performances—hypnotic, sensual, and immersive.
Ni!’s debut album Hikikomori received critical acclaim for its intimate atmosphere and distinctive sonic language, blending melancholy with beauty and tension with stillness. Inspired by artists like Arve Henriksen, Nils Petter Molvær, and Colin Stetson, his music carries a deep inner pulse and emotional gravity.
Originally trained as a classical musician, Ni! has contributed to diverse projects—from composing soundtracks for fashion shows in Yerevan and Tashkent, to working on an official remix for legendary UK band Red Snapper. His creative journey led him through jazz groups, rap collectives, and experimental theater, eventually culminating in his solo work: a personal, introspective sonic world.
Since relocating from Russia to Portugal, Ni! has performed immersive solo sets without any pre-recorded material, building complex structures in real time. Each show is a trance-like ritual of layered textures and unresolved narratives.
Now working on his second full-length album, Ni! continues to explore the fragile space between electronic abstraction and human vulnerability.
