Nicasso may have left Chile for Sweden at an early age, but Chile and the music of South America and the Spanish Caribbean never left him. Through his musical journey, through hiphop, Nicasso kept in touch with his roots - be it Victor Jara’s freedom-longing croons or Hector Lavoe’s rebellious rhythms. But most importantly the vibes of the post-Panama-canal music mix of the likes of El General, Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderon and many others have been an inspiration!
The time spent in Sweden made Nicasso deconstruct and reconstruct his own Latin identity and expression. The wish to belong with the reggaetoneros, bachateros and the likes he heard on his older cousins' mixtapes got fused with the inevitable Swedish melancholy and the unique expression that is Nicasso.
