‘Fake Leather’ is the first single released by Teesside band Nice Guy. It sees the four-piece taking their indie/alternative sound to its most soaring yet. Since forming, their style has developed continually, with the first stage culminating in this impassioned, frenetic track. It is backed up by ‘Mathematics’, from their first recording session in mid 2019.
Inspired by those gold necklaces that said ‘Fuck the Tories’ in recessed lettering; Deirdre Barlow’s neck muscles and 90’s/00’s indie, ‘Fake Leather’ was recorded and produced by the heroic David Todd and Nigel Crooks, amongst others from Middlesbrough’s wonderful Goosed Records.
