Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Nick Reding is an up and coming musician who blends influence from Reggae, Neo-Soul with Bluesy and percussive undertones to speak through his instruments. He picked up his first guitar at the age of 12 and it quickly became his primary language. Nick grew up listening to artists like John Mayer and Jack Johnson and later found his passion in Jazz and Neo-Soul artists like Robert Glasper and Mac Ayres.
Nick has won Buffalo's 2017 Original Singer Songwriter Competition, been a mentor to other up and coming local musicians, and has completed several collaborative projects. After years of being one third of a trio, he has ventured on his own to follow his gut and create his first solo album. He is a self-taught musician and producer, wielding talent in recording and composition. Music is in everything Nick does, whether he is recording new ideas after a walk, or hearing melodies in every-day sounds. Nick’s process is exploratory, detail-oriented, playful and authentic which shows in the end results of his recordings.
Nick’s music tells a story about trusting and understanding the self and relying on the power of one’s own mind regardless of what the world around the listener is saying. His techniques range from smooth and cohesive, to abrupt and percussive. He wants his music to relay steadiness and calm amongst the chaos of every-day life.
