A native Parisian of Armenian descent, singer, songwriter and guitar-player Nicola Són has been a permanent resident of São Paulo, Brazil's largest city, from 2013 to 2018.
In a previous album trilogy and an EP, the artist explored different areas of Brazil and their specific rhythms. He recorded with great names of the Brazilian scene, such as João Donato, Casuarina or Zeca Baleiro. In 2020, he started a new collaboration with Accords Croisés for the release of Piaf do Brasil, where he choosed to adapt in Brazilian Portuguese the mythical pieces from his native country, those of the icon Edith Piaf.
In September 2023, Nicola Són released his 5th album named Pas de panique.
This album seeked inspiration beyond the Brazilian music of his first albums, flirting with reggae, cumbia, African music, in a more pop and modern spirit.
Nicola Són's challenge is always to make French song swing, drawing inspiration from music from elsewhere, as Gainsbourg had managed to do in his time in his first albums (Nº2, Nº4 or Percussions). Accompanied by the same Brazilian producer, Márcio Arantes (awarded at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2021), who had produced his hit "Amanhã já era" - France Inter 2018 playlist, Nova Tunes 3.8, FIP, Cosmo in Germany) - Nicola Són therefore presents a resolutely French, Latin, and pop album.
In 2025, he created a brand new band, Os Pariocas, which interpreted Samba Soul classics and rare grooves from the 70's and some tracks of his previous albums.
