A rock and roll spirit with a soaring sound, Nicole Kiki Jaffe leaves her head, heart, and humor on the stage. She is an emotional alchemist, turning heartbreak into beauty and vulnerability into strength. She draws from classic rock, folk, and musical theatre and will be releasing her first album, ‘Matte Black,’ later this year.
Raised in Southern California on a diet of ballet and theatre, Nicole is no stranger to the stage. She grew up listening to Hendrix, the Stones, and the Dead with the Wicked soundtrack, Linda Eder, and Sarah McLaughlin mixed in. She started writing songs about other people, but found her voice in songs about love, loss, and the space in between. She honed her craft at open mics around Los Angeles, noting her power to make a loud bar go quiet and bring tears to the eyes of people listening.
Nicole has shared her cathartic sound on stages all across LA, from Hotel Cafe and the Echo, to KCRW’s Chinatown Summer Nights and the Troubadour. She has been featured in publications like Earmilk and LADYGUNN and garnered radio plays on The Independent 88.5 FM and Islington Radio, London. Buzzbands LA compares her to the Cranberries. Grimy Goods named her an Artist to Watch and writes, “Nicole transforms pain into beauty and strength…her music carries hope and solace for anyone who listens.”
Her melodies are musical cathedrals, with lyrics that both cut and heal. Her songs are fearless reminders that rock and roll was born in the rhythm, and the blues.
