NIEMI

NIEMI is a Finnish dream folk quintet that brings together the Finnish lullaby tradition and ambient music. The result is a lullaby trip to a calm place where earthly sorrows are left far behind. The old message of lullabies is clear: you are safe to slip to the other side.

In NIEMI’s music, singer & songwriter Inka Niemi's (Ambient Music Maker of the Year 2020 by The Finnish Music Publishers Association) whispery vocals are accompanied by reverbed kantele and multidimensional atmospheres. She has combined traditional lullabies with new lullabies made by her. Inspiration is found in nature, dreams, mythologies and death.

In their live shows, acoustical instruments are combined with live effects that bring the musical atmosphere near the boundaries of sleep. Their performances are minimalist, magical, unbroken ceremonies, easy to attend. Everyone is invited to slow down their flow and explore where their mind takes them.

NIEMI's debut album Spiraalit / Spirals was released on February 6th 2020 by Bafe's Factory, produced by Venla Ilona Blom of Tuuletar fame. The album has gathered widespread attention in the international music media and has been on air on American and European radio channels, among others.
