Nils about new album "Undertones" (Feb 12, 2026)
– The piano has always been like a portal to new worlds for me, he says. Something new happens every time I sit down at it. These pieces were made during a few magical autumn weeks, so the inspiration was right there outside the window. And to enhance that feeling, I recorded everything on an old reel-to-reel tape recorder which ads a slightly mournful yet hopeful undertone, but that can probably be said about the entire album.
Indeed, "Undertones", like its predecessor, has a muted tone, but the joy of playing and the underlying mysticism radiates a special lustre – like the dew on autumn's last leaves.
