Talented classical composer, singer, and piano performer Nino García started studying music when he was a child. At the age of 14, García joined Viña del Mar's Symphonic Orquestra and while taking composing classes, participated in a group called Quinteto Hindemith. During the 1970s, Nino García got involved in popular music after signing up to local label Alba, becoming its director, and having the opportunity to work along with Latin stars such as Antonio Prieto, Paloma San Basilio, and Sandro. In 1980, after recording Espejismos, the artist represented Chile at OTI's Festival with his song "Sin Razón." In 1993, García composed a symphony called Fragmentaria, followed by 1994's Larga Distancia and El Debut de Ulises. In 1996, a rhapsody inspired by the 100th anniversary of cinematography brought forward Nino García's best year. In fact, during 1997, the artist composed an outstanding work, starting with Formulaciones Anímicas and following with Artículos de Concierto, Sonarita, and la Contaminación de la Primavera. In a totally unexpected incident, Nino García committed suicide while playing his piano in February of 1998, leaving behind an impressive legacy. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
