Nkumba System

As if you were speeding on an imaginary highway linking Douala to Barranquilla, Nkumba System revisits the similarities present in both Colombian and African music: generosity, dance, clave and trance. Highlife, Zairean rumba or makossa meet with cumbia, currulao and even guaracha. The virtuoso Cameroonian guitar style and beauty of Caribbean polyrythms join together for a sole purpose: satisfy the dancers! “¡Baílalo Duro!”
Nkumba System was founded in Bogota in 2018, inside Colombia's effervescent tropical music scene. Led by guitarist Guillo Cros from Marseille, who has played for a few years with Romperayo band as well, the group collaborates in multiples ways, including singles released on the label Palenque Records, amongst others.
Now based in Marseille, Nkumba System brings together an new explosive band of amazing colombians, cameroonians and cubans musicians with Guillo Cros (guitar, backing vocals), Cindy Pooch (lead vocals), Jhon Socha (bass, backing vocals), Simba Daniel Evousa (guitar), Yoandy San Martín (drums, backing vocals). Under contract with the famous Dutch booking agency Earth Beat, their first European tour was cancelled, but the Roskilde (Denmark) gig is postponed to July 2021.
