NML is the name of the solo efforts of Oslo-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and composer Nils Martin Larsen. November 2025 sees the release of his latest LP «Isola».
Isola is written as a study in isolation.
Drum machines, samplers, acoustic instruments and most importantly - a large modular synth rig has shaped this record exploring how isolation affects artists trying to find their new record. The sometimes wonderful, sometimes destructive force. After all the years making so many records and always going through this feeling, pressing keys and twisting knobs looking for the perfect tempo or tone, NML felt a need to create a record that explores this old friend. Skewed loops and beautiful sounds coexist and often take drastic turns. «Isola» demands focus or surrender from the listener. Larsen's background as a producer and film composer is evident from a record that is warm and cold, hard and ethereal, fast and slow.
