Noise From Iceland is an artistic-documentary project that delves into the question, "What is the sound of Iceland?" The project's inspiration stemmed from an encounter with a visually impaired tourist during a tour of the Raufarhólshellir lava cave, where it became clear that Iceland's allure extends beyond its stunning landscapes to include its rich textures and sounds. This realization sparked the idea to capture these auditory experiences and create an audio map of the island.
Led by a skilled musicologist, musician, and producer, **Noise From Iceland** explores the island's unique soundscape, revealing a complex blend of sounds where noise often takes center stage. The project's immersive works have been showcased at prestigious events like the Midpunkt Festival in Kópavogur and featured as a soundscape for a photography exhibition in Hafnartorg, Reykjavik. Additionally, the project’s soundscapes have gained international recognition, being incorporated by the Japanese collective Dumb Type at the Biennale in Venice (2021) and by renowned composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in his "Playback" composition, exhibited at Haus der Kunst in Munich.
