The rock scene in the Faroe Islands has been reignited with a powerful new sound as NorðKraft’s latest single, “Marianna,” a tribute to the resilience and beauty of the Faroe Islands, makes waves.
Released on November 1, 2024, the single has struck a deep chord among rock fans, filling a long-standing void in the island’s challenging rock repertoire.
NorðKraft was formed in the heart of the North Atlantic’s dramatic seascapes on the Faroe Islands by guitarist Mikkjal Hvannastein and vocalist Edmund Jacobsen. Edmund, a former frontman of the iconic Faroese rock band Chase, brings seasoned vocal prowess and stage charisma.
Mikkjal Hvannastein, widely regarded as the Faroe Islands’ premier rock guitarist and a masterful producer with his own studio, delivers uncompromising talent and expertise.
By early 2024, Edmund and Mikkjal decided to bring their newest creations to life. Edmund enlisted drummer Matthew Anyanwu, who joined him in Esbjerg, Denmark, to track the energetic drum lines that would propel the new songs forward. Bassist Peter Jacobsen, another seasoned rock veteran, soon joined their ranks, completing the ensemble and adding depth to their sound.
Rock fans can look forward to a steady stream of new singles rolling out from now through April 2025, each offering a unique blend of raw energy and heartfelt lyrics. If all goes according to plan, an as-yet-untitled album will be released in April 2025.
