From softer, familial beginnings back home in Northwest Indiana to a slew of movement that placed the band across Indiana (Muncie, Ft. Wayne) and landed one in New York, Northwest has flipped through many creative endeavors with great attention to detail.
In 2017, peers Lukas Needham (vocals, guitar, production) and Noah Bennett (production, guitar) began to collaborate through the lens of friendship, producing demos that commented on the goings-on of their hometown. After gathering a selection of tracks that culminated in 2018's Area Code, the addition of lifelong friend Blake Fletcher (drums, production) came in to flesh out the band's live sound and provided a solid backing to the process of production. This led into the release of Suburban Dogs, which featured celebrated indie-pop single 'Come Around'
In 2021, the group began to establish roots in central Indiana by performances in house venues and bars, carving out a sound that could be equally abrasive as it is tender. Later the same year, Needham met bassist Dominic Sandefur (bass, vocals, production) and soon integrated Sandefur into the group. A year later, the band released the tumultuously-recorded 'Heaven from Athens', a 7-track album that explored interpersonal conflicts and the passage of life.
Since, fervent cuts 'dog days' and 'divine intervention' have proven Northwest's capacity to both self-produce cohesive tracks and build upon the outstanding ground they've laid out since the group's inception.
