Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York during the Golden Age of Hip-Hop, NOTHING_NEUE spent his formative years completely surrounded by music and art. At home, every member of the household was a musician, and time outside of the house was spent playing in local Metal bands, before eventually finding a home in the East Coast Beat Scene.
After being in the crowd at local showcases like BEAT HAUS and Pushing Buttons Collective, Nothing_Neue began creating a sound that wove together all of the musical threads that inspired him. Through founding (in plain sight) an Instrumental Hip-Hop showcase, that started from his childhood home and performing across the United States, Nothing_Neue built a sonic vocabulary that remained consistent even as he experimented with various styles of music. Citing artists like J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Synkro, AFTA-1, Disclosure, James Blake, Jared Jackson and Lakim as inspiration, Nothing_Neue is committed to blending all of his influences into one cohesive language.
Utilizing a background in visual arts, Nothing_Neue has created a world for the audience to explore, directly inspired by New York's rich history of Graffiti covered streets and subways. With nearly a decade of eclectic, self-produced releases, his intention is to break down the barriers separating musical genres, in hopes of inspiring others to expand their palette and find themselves in unexpected places.
