Novit Terminus is the electro-Euroatavism music project of Jeremy C. Wells, Ph.D., blending ancient European folk and medieval traditions with dark, driving electronic sounds to explore the psychology behind abusers and their targets. The project emphasizes modal structures over traditional tonality, drawing inspiration from Iberian folk music's rhythms, percussion, and microtonality, as well as early electronic body music.
Until 2022, Wells was an award-winning, tenured university professor of historic preservation and environmental psychology, known for his research on racial and ethnic bias in public preservation policy, ranking among the top five cited preservation scholars in the US. He left academia due to the often violent resistance people had to his work promoting diversity and inclusion within the historic preservation field. Wells, formerly of Digital Black, 68000, and Violet Arcana, returned to music—his initial passion in life—to help process personal trauma, facilitate a connection with his ancestors, and understand the limits of what lies beyond.
Wells does not use AI in any of his musical compositions.
