NuHussel Orchestra

Globalized sound, danceable grooves and driving melodies. In the heart of St. Pauli, the NuHussel Orchestra was founded in 2015 by Wanja C. Hasselmann (Drums/Compositions) and since then has skillfully maneuvered through everything modern jazz has to offer; influenced by funk, hip hop and classical music to rock or electro. The band follows a "collective" concept and performs with different features and guest musicians, so that you can hear more than just the seven-member line-up. This is how the new city sound of a world-open generation is created: Urban Score.

After the debut album „First Things Frist“ (Unit Records) was released in 2017 with excellent reviews, the band won the Future Sounds Jazz Prize in the same year. Things continued in 2018 with celebrated concerts at the Elbjazz Festival and Leverkusener Jazztage, where they were included in the renowned live concert TV series „WDR Rockpalast“. In summer 2019, the Band presented their second album: „The Forest“, which was recorded in a five-day session with 38 musicians of the urban jazz scene from 12 nations and accompanied by features such as Hamburg rapper Nico Suave or the outstanding New York jazz singer Alana Alexander.

After 2022 "KIDS" Project featuring none other than German rap legend AFROB, oktober 2023 the new project of the group droped: "BAHIA". This three-track EP was recorded as a "live at studio" session and features a vast variety of brasilien influences. The sound, culture, rhythm and emotion.
