NUMA [7534] is a prog rock band that navigates between the musical worlds of Soundgarden, Porcupine Tree and Jeff Buckley. Imbued with a wide range of genres, they offer an energetic, dynamic and nuanced hybrid rock. With highly symbolic and often cathartic lyrics, they appeal to both fans of roaring riffs and musical research lovers.
Their debut LP (Long Play) 'Mothership Down' was released on 21 September 2020. Since then, it has been streamed 65,000 times. Self-produced, recorded remotely during the first confinement in Paris, mixed and mastered, for the most part, by Mickaël Serra. On 2 June 2023, NUMA will release a 6-track EP entitled "Nénuphar". The music video for the single "I Can't Hold On Any Longer", entitled "Shadow Memories", will be released on 26 May 2023.
"Nénuphar" can be considered as a single 25-minute musical movement, exploring trauma through the theme of immigration. Mainly inspired by the moving testimonies of the documentary “Human”, directed by Yann Arthurs-Bertrand, it offers a mixture of instrumental pieces and songs with post-prog connotations. Rich in nuances and dynamics at the service of the narration, “Nénuphar” is a compendium of hovering atmospheres and colorful sounds, powerful aggressive riffs anchored in asymmetrical rhythms, all driven by poignant melodies.
