Biography of NYC Godfather (Jules 'Mescaline' Otto)
By Jules Mescaline
Genre: Gangster Dance

Jules 'Mescaline' Otto is a Dutch singer, guitarist, and songwriter known for his deep, dramatic voice and genre versatility. He gained recognition with his project/band Jules' Mescaline, especially with the 2009 album *Pure*, which blends influences from David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Sivert Høyem, and Johnny Cash.

Otto’s music is a postmodern expression, where atmospheres and iconic moments from pop and rock history flow through his compositions. This approach is inspired by his long-standing collaboration and friendship with postmodern artist Rob Scholte. By placing recognizable elements in new contexts, Otto creates powerful new narratives.

In addition to his work with Jules' Mescaline, where he continues to collaborate with producer Dirk Vermeij, Otto developed the solo project NYC Godfather. Entirely self-produced, this project stems from his deep fascination with American mafia culture as depicted in films like *The Godfather* and *Scarface*. NYC Godfather is not a tribute but a creative outlet exploring the dark, complex atmosphere of New York mafia life.

The first track, "Bada-Bing Bada-Boom," captures this world perfectly with heavy beats and a sinister undertone. NYC Godfather marks a new chapter in Otto's career, where his unique, dark sound remains both intriguing and powerful.
