Nyiam

From his hardcore rap style to his effervescent approach to making music, this multi-talented rapper and composer is known for leaving heads bobbing in his wake. Recognized by peers for his powerful wordplay and hard-hitting production which utilizes both sampled and electronic sounds, Nyiam’s style is uniquely his own: a mélange of old-school basics with a definite contemporary appeal, blended with his own inspiration and unmistakable sense of humour.

The Mississauga native began making beats and writing songs at the age of thirteen, drawing early influence from lyricists such as Lord Finesse and Big L while finding inspiration from producers like Alchemist,Pete Rock,Dr. Dre, Qtip, MadLib and The Neptunes. By the age of seventeen Nyiam began recording early projects, quickly growing a dedicated fanbase locally before the release of his debut album, D.O.P.E., in December of 2010. Since his formal introduction to the Toronto music scene, Nyiam has shared the stage with the notoriously known Bizarre, Kuniva, and Swifty McVay of D12, Hiphop legends M.O.P as well collabs with local emcees/ producers such as Dijah SB, Junia T, Crooklin, and Astro Mega.
