NYNNO

Melbourne’s NYNNO is a creative singer and songwriter who is quickly becoming known for her broody brand of R&B. With verses that are paradoxical, her music delivers decidedly relatable themes in a casually esoteric yet playful package that is reminiscent of the soulful divas she is inspired by (from Sade and Brenda Fassie, to SZA and Solange).

Entering the Melbourne music scene in 2016 under the Outside Inn collective, she began lending her silky vocals to live shows and laying down the occasional hook. This gave her confidence to start creating and performing her own music and lead to a debut solo performance at Melbourne’s Music Week in late 2018. This debut has since followed up with performances on notable local lineups, including The Melbourne Hip Hop Festival, A Weekend With, Melbourne Music Week (two years in a row), St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Isol-aid. 2020 has also seen an exciting, drip-release of demos-turned-singles from Nynno, with tracks such as Download, Classic Overloader and Shangri-La, that have had her picked up for APRA AMCOS’s Mentorship for Women In Music award.

NYNNO is currently finalising a collection of singles in collaboration with co-producers HDSNJMSJR (prod. for the likes of Baro; ESESE co-founder) and DJ/producer Nightwrk. Promised to play out like a series of dreamlike soliloquies, this project will give us a deeper look into her atmospheric sound and cut-through lyrics that leave no thought unturned.
